Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Installation: Installing electrical systems, including wiring, outlets, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and other electrical components according to blueprints or code requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, such as faulty wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, or lighting systems. Electricians must be able to quickly identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Electrical Inspections: Conducting inspections of electrical systems to ensure they meet safety codes and regulations. This often involves using testing equipment to check voltage, current, and resistance.
  • Upgrades and Maintenance: Upgrading electrical systems, replacing old wiring or outdated fixtures, and maintaining systems to ensure they continue to work efficiently.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring that all electrical work is performed in accordance with local and national electrical codes, safety standards, and building codes. This includes properly grounding systems and using safety equipment to avoid electrical hazards.
  • Blueprint and Diagram Reading: Interpreting and working from electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to understand the requirements for installation and repairs.

    • Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, circuits, transformers, and motors.
    • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues quickly and accurately.
    • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle tools and equipment safely and with precision.
    • Attention to Detail: Ensuring all wiring, connections, and components are installed and maintained correctly to prevent safety hazards.
    • Physical Stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, such as working in tight spaces, lifting heavy equipment, and standing or kneeling for long periods.
    • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other team members, and explain electrical issues or solutions clearly.
